一隻烏鴉渴極了，到處找水喝，但是飛了很久也沒找到水源，就停在一棵樹上休息，忽然發現樹下正好有一個水瓶。烏鴉高興極了，但是水瓶裡的水不多，而且瓶頸很細，烏鴉試了好幾次，都無法把嘴伸進去。

　　他想把水瓶推倒，但是水瓶卡在石頭縫裡，怎麽推也推不動。烏鴉又急又渴，這時他忽然想出一個辦法。他撿了很多小石子回來，投進水瓶裡，石子越來越多，不多的水升上來了，聰明的烏鴉終於喝到了水。

THE CROW AND THE PITCHER

　　A thirsty Crow found a pitcher with some water in it. But so little was there that try as it might. It could not reach it with its beak, and it seemed as though it would die of thirst within sight of the remedy. At last, it hit upon a clever plan. It began dropping pebbles into the pitcher, and with each pebble, the water rose a little higher until at last, it reached the brim, and the knowing bird was enabled to quench her thirst.
